The UK’s oldest orchid nursery

Orchids have seduced collectors for hundreds of years, first arriving in Great Britain from South America in the early 19th century, many people have become fascinated by these mysterious plants. Today this fascination continues and at McBean’s orchids we are renowned for our quality plants & home to a historic collection of Oncidiums and Cymbidiums, some dating back over 100 years.

Established in 1879, McBeans has sold orchids all over the world, from a single plant to a passer by, to collectors, stately homes & Royal Households, all orchid enthusiasts, helping customers build specialist glasshouses, advising & managing collections. The nursery has a long association with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show exhibiting since the show’s inception, winning over 80 gold medals and many other awards.

We have a kokedama workshop on Friday 19th September 2025, book through the ‘shop’ above.
