Shipping & Handling
Deliveries to UK mainland addresses are made using courier or postal services at our discretion, unless otherwise stated in the product description. Each product section or, in some cases, individual product display, carries a statement in respect of carriage to be charged. In summary, orders for any quantity of plants will carry a fixed charge of £18.00. Carriage on books is charged at £1.00 per item. Prices for feed and composts include carriage to UK mainland addresses unless otherwise stated.
We usually send out orders Monday – Thursday and would expect to dispatch goods by the end of the following day (not weekends). We would ask you to inform us within two working days if the goods are lost or damaged in transit so that we can make a prompt claim against the delivery company and correct the problem. You agree that proof of delivery supplied by our delivery company is sufficient evidence to establish that goods have been received.
We are able to accept orders on this web-store for delivery to UK mainland addresses only. Due to Brexit and the new rules and costs involved with exporting plants we have taken the decision to not send orchids overseas.
Every effort is made to ensure that offerings on this site are reviewed regularly. Occasionally, however, we may be unable to fill an order with the product(s) selected. In such an event, we will contact the customer to discuss alternative products which may be acceptable as a substitute. or we will return payment if so requested.
Plant Descriptions & Names
The descriptions in these listings are given in good faith and are intended to be representative of plants flowering in our nursery. All photographs depict actual plants we have grown, unless stated otherwise. For seedlings, the details given are what we expect the plants to produce and photographs approximate those expectations to the best of our ability. The naming of plants, particularly in the orchid world, is invariably a contentious issue. We do our best to identify plants by the correct nomenclature but would expect to lapse occasionally.
Damaged Plants or Goods
Our carriers require that any damage in transit must be reported to them within 48 hours and we ask customers to help us meet this requirement. Full cultural instructions are provided with any plants delivered and we must reserve the right to reject any claim if it is apparent that these have not been observed. Our liability in respect of any claim shall be limited to the purchase price paid for the goods. All transactions shall be governed by the laws of England whose courts alone shall have jurisdiction. You may cancel an order at any time within fourteen working days, beginning on the day after you receive the products. In this case, you will receive a full refund of the price paid for the products (in accordance with our refunds policy set out below) To cancel an order, you must inform us in writing. You must also return the product(s) to us immediately, in the same condition in which you received them, and at your own cost and risk. You have a legal obligation to take reasonable care of the products while they are in your possession. If you fail to comply with this obligation, we may have a right of action against you for compensation.
Our Refunds Policy
When you return a product to us, because you have cancelled the order/contract between us within the fourteen day cooling- off period (detailed above), we will process the refund due to you as soon as possible and, in any case, within 30 days of the day you have given notice of your cancellation. In this case, we will refund the price of the product in full, including the cost of sending the item to you. However, you will be responsible for the cost of returning the item to us. for any other reason (for instance because you claim that the product is defective), we will examine the returned product and will notify you of your refund via e-mail within a reasonable period of time. We will usually process the refund due to you as soon as possible and, in any case, within 30 days of the day we confirmed to you via e-mail that you were entitled to a refund for the defective product. Products returned by you because of a defect will be refunded in full, including a refund of the delivery charges for sending the item to you and the cost incurred by you in returning the item to us. We will usually refund any money received from you using the same method originally used by you to pay for your purchase.When returning a product to us, please ensure that it is packaged securely in its original condition (with tags still intact if applicable). This will ensure that your return is processed speedily.
The prices quoted are inclusive of UK VAT at 20%, where applicable.
Your card payments are processed by a secure Payment Service Provider whose operations are certificated to conform to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. The full card details you enter at Checkout are not passed to us or stored on our premises.
Payment for defective or incorrectly supplied plants and other items will be refunded if we are notified within 30 days of receipt. Where damage has occurred in transit we ask you to advise us within 72 hours of receipt to allow us to recover costs from the carrier. In all cases, we take no liability for any costs over and above the selling prices and any carriage charged. We reserve the right to require return of the plants at our expense when a claim has been received. All transactions shall be governed by the laws of England whose courts alone shall have jurisdiction.
