CARING FOR YOUR ZYGOPETALUM
INDOOR CULTIVATION
TEMPERATURE:
We would recommend temperatures around -summer: 18-35oC -winter: 7-24oC with significant night time drop in temperature.
LIGHT:
Your Zygo will be happiest in good light, but not in direct sunlight. 50% shade is just about right.
WATERING:
Water thoroughly from the top and leave to drain. The best time would be in the morning so that the foliage will have plenty of time to dry before temperatures cool. Use rain water. Never let it stand in excess water.
HUMIDITY:
Good air movement is extremely helpful. This will dry the leaves after watering.
FEEDING:
Feed your plant regularly when you water but every fourth watering leave out the fertiliser to allow any build up of salts to be washed from the compost.
POTTING:
This should be carried out between March and June, usually every other year. Use bark or sphagnum moss mix.
FLOWERING:
Produce several flower spikes. Peak flowering time is in the spring, early summer and some varieties reflower within the year.
HINT:
If you have a strong healty Zygo with a new pseudobulb that is reluctant to flower, try placing the plant in a cool room for a couple weeks when a new growth is beginning to emerge.
Plant not for consumption!
